"If you ride within the rules your behavior is absolutely predictable. Choosing to ride through T-intersections, and red-lights, on sidewalks, passing on the right, [riding] against traffic etc., makes you unpredictable. Motorists are forced to guess your intentions. Are they encountering another vehicle or a pedestrian on a bike? Is it a vehicle or a toy?
Every time we ride we are educating motorists about what to expect the next time they encounter a bike. If other riders deflate my status as a vehicle and right to share the road they put me at risk. In my daily commute on both roads and mixed use paths I encounter more bad cyclists than bad motorists."
