  • Bradley Denton - Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede (Catch-22 meets Have Spacesuit Will Travel on the set of Vanishing Point??? Something like that. Damn funny anyway.)
  • James Lee Burke's David Robicheaux novels (well written, though sometimes violent detective stories set in Louisiana)...also The Lost Get-Back Boogie, one of his earlier books.
  • Off The Map (Mark D. Jenkins) and Miles From Nowhere (Barbara Savage) - books about adventure cycling
  • A few David Brin SF novels (Earth, Startide Rising, The Postman)
  • Vernor Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep
  • Elmore Leonard - Get Shorty, Riding the Rap
  • G.M. Ford - Who the Hell is Wanda Fuca, Cast in Stone, The Bum's Rush, Slow Burn
  • Bruce Sterling - Heavy Weather
  • Carl Hiaasen - Tourist Season, Double Whammy, Skin Tight, Native Tongue, Strip Tease, Stormy Weather, Lucky You
  • Robert Crais - The Monkey's Raincoat, Stalking the Angel, Lullaby Town, Free Fall, Voodoo River, Sunset Express, Indigo Slam
  • Harlan Coben - Deal Breaker, Dropshot, Fade Away, Backspin, One False Move
    If more people read books they would make fewer usage mistakes
