James Lee Burke's David Robicheaux novels (well written, though sometimes violent detective stories set in Louisiana)...also The Lost Get-Back Boogie, one of his earlier books.

G.M. Ford - Who the Hell is Wanda Fuca, Cast in Stone, The Bum's Rush, Slow Burn
Bruce Sterling - Heavy Weather
Carl Hiaasen - Tourist Season, Double Whammy, Skin Tight, Native Tongue, Strip Tease, Stormy Weather, Lucky You
Robert Crais - The Monkey's Raincoat, Stalking the Angel, Lullaby Town, Free Fall, Voodoo River, Sunset Express, Indigo Slam
Harlan Coben - Deal Breaker, Dropshot, Fade Away, Backspin, One False Move
