De La Soul
One of the first hip-hop groups
to go against the violence-laden
themes of fellow groups and talk
about peace, love and politics,
paving the way for groups like
Digable Planets and PM Dawn.
Formed in 1985, De La Soul
includes Mase, Posdnuos and
Trugoy the Dove, all sharing
vocal credits. They hit it big
with "Me, Myself & I" in 1989.
De La Soul's second album,
titled "De La Soul is Dead,"
served as a backlash to the
music world's reaction to the
first record. The new songs
tackled weightier subjects
like drug abuse and the
downside of fame. And
the group's most recent
release, "Stakes Is High"
was considered a return to
form. The group also

Seven musicians decided
to form a band in order to
produce a uniquely crafted
style of music that blends
together the styles of Ska,
Swing, and Pop. With each
member being a gifted
veteran of the infamous
Orange County Ska scene,
it took no time for this
new super-group to blow
up in popularity.
The band has quickly
earned a reputation
of impeccable quality
for their music, which

Clyde's Ride
This year's opener is a
local band, that blends the
soul and funk of the 70s
with definite 90s innovation.
In it's current arrangement,
composed of two singers,
guitarist, bassist,
drummer, and two horn
players, Clyde's Ride
has been together since
January of this year.
"I want you to know we
are going to put on a mind-
blowing show that will be
professional and most
importantly fun. Our
dream has been to play
this concert," says
bassist, Hugh Perkin.
